We describe here a protocol for labelling autologous white blood cells with (111)In-oxine based on previously published consensus papers and guidelines. This protocol includes quality control and safety procedures and is in accordance with current European Union regulations and International Atomic Energy Agency recommendations.
Digitization in the healthcare sector and the support of clinical workflows with artificial intelligence (AI), including AI-supported image analysis, represent a great challenge and equally a promising perspective for preclinical and clinical nuclear medicine. In Germany, the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) and the Network University Medicine (NUM) are of central importance for this transformation. This review article outlines these structures and highlights their future role in enabling privacy-preserving federated multi-center analyses with interoperable data structures harmonized between site-specific IT infrastructures. The newly founded working group "Digitization and AI" in the German Society of Nuclear Medicine (DGN) as well as the Fach- und Organspezifische Arbeitsgruppe (FOSA, specialty- and organ-specific working group) founded for the field of nuclear medicine (FOSA Nuklearmedizin) within the NUM aim to initiate and coordinate measures in the context of digital medicine and (image-)data-driven analyses for the DGN.

The COVID-19 pandemic represents one of the biggest challenges for healthcare systems of the recent past. Despite Nuclear Medicine not being in the eye of the COVID-19 storm our specialty was nevertheless significantly affected. All over the world recommendations on how to prepare Nuclear Medicine departments for the pandemic were published [1] [2] [3]. Despite timely preparation of the majority of institutions tremendous reductions of diagnostic procedures, therapies and procurement of radionuclides were reported [4] [5]. Not surprisingly the degree of severity varied geographically with areas such as Italy, Spain affected most and Singapore, South Korea among others being less affected[6]. The negative economic impact of COVID-19 is beyond any questions tremendous even too early to be reliably assessed [7]. Luckily in many parts worldwide the first peak has surpassed and many nuclear medicine departments are gearing back up to normality [8]. Despite the comparably overall successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany a second wave cannot be excluded. Accordingly we proactively reached out to our friends in Italy and Spain to learn from their experiences and to better understand what opportunities such a crisis might trigger. The following report provided by Professor Dr. Ignasi Carrio, Professor and Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Hospital Sant Pau in Barcelona, and former Editor in Chief of the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, is a summary of a presentation given during a special session "COVID 19" during the virtual congress Nuklearmedizin 2020.
AIM: This study aimed to assess the quantity and quality of papers published in subspecialty nuclear medicine journals and provide an overview of worldwide research activity carried out in the field of nuclear medicine. METHODS: Papers published in subspecialty nuclear medicine journals between 2008 and 2017 were retrieved from the Web of Science. The number of papers and citations were used to evaluate the quantity and quality of the articles. The correlation between the research productivity of different countries and their population size and gross domestic product (GDP) were analyzed. RESULTS: There were 12,861 articles published in these journals between 2008 and 2017. A rapidly increasing trend was observed in the number of articles published per year (p < 0.001). The United States published the largest proportion of papers (23.22 %) followed by Germany (9.94 %), Japan (9.46 %), Italy (6.53 %), and China (6.36 %). The United States had the highest number of total citations. The number of articles from different countries had a significant correlation with their population size and GDP (p < 0.01). Switzerland had the highest mean citations (23.66) followed by the Netherlands (23.54), and Germany (22.77). However, the Netherlands was first (42.43) followed by Denmark (32.89) and Switzerland (31.79) when adjustments for population size were made. When adjustments for GDP were made, the Netherlands was again the leader (82.91) followed by Denmark (69.49) and Greece (61.77). CONCLUSIONS: There has been a significant increase in nuclear medicine research over the last decade. The United States is the leader of worldwide research productivity. However, when population and GDP are taken into consideration, certain smaller countries in Europe exhibit performed better.
Beneath the beauty of coral reefs lies a hidden universe of microbes unlike anything scientists expected。 Each coral species supports its own specialized microbial partners, many of which have never been studied before。 These microbes produce a stunning variety of chemical compounds with potential uses in medicine and biotech

PURPOSE: The radionuclide bone scan is the cornerstone of skeletal nuclear medicine imaging. Bone scintigraphy is a highly sensitive diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging technique that uses a radiotracer to evaluate the distribution of active bone formation in the skeleton related to malignant and benign disease, as well as physiological processes. METHODS: The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) has written and approved these guidelines to promote the use of nuclear medicine procedures of high quality. CONCLUSION: The present guidelines offer assistance to nuclear medicine practitioners in optimizing the diagnostic procedure and interpreting bone scintigraphy. These guidelines describe the protocols that are currently accepted and used routinely, but do not include all existing procedures. They should therefore not be taken as exclusive of other nuclear medicine modalities that can be used to obtain comparable results. It is important to remember that the resources and facilities available for patient care may vary.
A major physics experiment has uncovered evidence for a strange new form of matter, where a fleeting particle gets trapped inside a nucleus。 This exotic state may reveal how mass is generated, suggesting that particles can weigh less when surrounded by dense nuclear matter。 The findings support long-standing theories about how the vacuum of space i

Physicists may have just cracked open a hidden side of the quantum world。 For decades, every known particle was thought to belong to one of two categories — bosons or fermions — but researchers have now shown that bizarre “in-between” particles called anyons could also exist in a one-dimensional system。 Even more exciting, these strange particles m
A strange kind of matter that “ticks” forever without energy input has just taken a major leap toward real-world use。 Known as a time crystal, this quantum system repeats its motion endlessly—like a clock that never winds down—and scientists have now managed to connect it to an external device for the first time。 By linking the time crystal to a ti
