When humans perceive the world, they naturally integrate multiple audio-visual tasks within dynamic, real-world scenes. However, current works such as event localization, parsing, segmentation and question answering are mostly explored individually, making it challenging to comprehensively understand complex audio-visual scenes and explore inter-task relationships. Hence, we propose \textbf{AV-Unified}, a unified framework that enables joint learning across a wide range of audio-visual scene understanding tasks. AV-Unified standardizes the diverse input-output formats of each task and incorporates a multi-scale spatiotemporal perception network to effectively capture audio-visual associations. Specifically, we unify the inputs and outputs of all supported tasks by converting them into sequences of discrete tokens, establishing a shared representation that allows a single architecture to be trained jointly across heterogeneous varied datasets. Considering the varying temporal granularity of audio-visual events, a multi-scale temporal perception module is designed to capture key cues. Meanwhile, to overcome the lack of auditory supervision in the visual domain, we design a cross-moda
We formulate computer vision as unified multimodal generation, where heterogeneous visual tasks are expressed in the native text and image generation spaces of a unified multimodal model, without task-specific architectures. Under this formulation, SenseNova-Vision uses natural-language instructions and optional visual prompts to specify tasks, target regions or views, and decoding conventions, and generates responses as text for symbolic outputs, images for dense spatial predictions, or mixed text-and-image outputs for compositional tasks. To support large-scale training, we convert diverse computer vision annotations into instruction-response examples compatible with these generation spaces, resulting in the SenseNova-Vision Corpus, a computer-vision instruction-response corpus spanning text, image, and mixed targets. Starting from an off-the-shelf pretrained unified multimodal model, SenseNova-Vision is trained primarily on this corpus, with auxiliary multimodal data used as a capability-preserving mixture, and requires no task-specific prediction heads or architectural modifications. The resulting model covers a broad range of vision tasks, including detection, OCR, keypoint es
Real-world industrial inspection requires not only localizing defects, but also explaining them in natural language and generating controlled defect edits. However, existing approaches fail to jointly support all three capabilities within a unified framework and evaluation protocol. We propose IAD-Unify, a dual-encoder unified framework in which a frozen DINOv2-based region expert supplies precise anomaly evidence to a shared Qwen3.5-4B vision-language backbone via lightweight token injection, jointly enabling anomaly segmentation, region-grounded understanding, and mask-guided generation. To enable unified evaluation, we further construct Anomaly-56K, a comprehensive unified multi-task IAD evaluation platform, spanning 59,916 images across 24 categories and 104 defect variants. Controlled ablations yield four findings: (i) region grounding is the decisive mechanism for understanding, removing it degrades location accuracy by >76 pp; (ii) predicted-region performance closely matches oracle, confirming deployment viability; (iii) region-grounded generation achieves the best full-image fidelity and masked-region perceptual quality; and (iv) pre-initialized joint training improves
We present Pelican-Unify 1.0, the first embodied foundation model trained according to the principle of unification. Pelican-Unify 1.0 uses a single VLM as a unified understanding module, mapping scenes, instructions, visual contexts, and action histories into a shared semantic space. The same VLM also serves as a unified reasoning module, autoregressively producing task-, action-, and future-oriented chains of thought in a single forward pass and projecting the final hidden state into a dense latent variable. A Unified Future Generator (UFG) then conditions on this latent variable and jointly generates future videos and future actions through two modality-specific output heads within the same denoising process. The language, video, and action losses are all backpropagated into the shared representation, enabling the model to jointly optimize understanding, reasoning, imagination, and action during training, rather than training three isolated expert systems. Experiments demonstrate that unification does not imply compromise. With a single checkpoint, Pelican-Unify 1.0 achieves strong performance across all three capabilities: 64.7 on eight VLM benchmarks, the best among comparable
Recent large vision-language models (VLMs) remain fundamentally constrained by a persistent dichotomy: understanding and generation are treated as distinct problems, leading to fragmented architectures, cascaded pipelines, and misaligned representation spaces. We argue that this divide is not merely an engineering artifact, but a structural limitation that hinders the emergence of native multimodal intelligence. Hence, we introduce SenseNova-U1, a native unified multimodal paradigm built upon NEO-unify, in which understanding and generation evolve as synergistic views of a single underlying process. We launch two native unified variants, SenseNova-U1-8B-MoT and SenseNova-U1-A3B-MoT, built on dense (8B) and mixture-of-experts (30B-A3B) understanding baselines, respectively. Designed from first principles, they rival top-tier understanding-only VLMs across text understanding, vision-language perception, knowledge reasoning, agentic decision-making, and spatial intelligence. Meanwhile, they deliver strong semantic consistency and visual fidelity, excelling in conventional or knowledge-intensive any-to-image (X2I) synthesis, complex text-rich infographic generation, and interleaved vis
Non-Lorentzian theories of gravity, most common of which are Galilean and Carrollian gravity, arise from General relativity under suitable scalings. General relativity can be obtained by gauging the Poincaré algebra. A convenient formulation of non-Lorentzian gravity follows the contraction of the Poincaré algebra in the tangent space to its non-Lorentzian counterparts, e.g. Galilean and Carrollian algebras. In existing literature, different non-Lorentzian theories of gravity have been addressed separately. In this paper, we introduce a single unified framework of expansion to address all these different theories. We show that different scalings can be unified into a single covariant form parametrized by $(s,n)$, alongside the contraction parameter $ε$. Keeping these parameters unfixed in the limit $ε\to 0$ defines a $\textit{unified flat geometry}$ and its $\textit{unified algebra}$, which reduces to a specific non-Lorentzian geometry for a particular choice of $s$ and $n$. Using this setup in the tangent space, we systematically expand the Einstein-Hilbert action in even powers of $ε$, which we call a $\textit{unified expansion}$ of Einstein's gravity, whose leading-order theory
Unifying visual understanding and generation in one model holds immense promise, but remains challenging and expensive due to heavy compute and data demands and conflicts between the visual features needed for these two capabilities. To address these challenges, we present Argus-Unified, a compact, effective and unified multimodal model built with low demand on computation and data. Instead of aligning modalities from scratch, Argus-Unified effectively leverages pretrained vision-language models (VLMs) that provide strong multimodal priors. Specifically, we introduce hybrid visual tokens that preserve continuous tokens for understanding while learning discrete tokens for generation from a frozen unified vision encoder. Our training pipeline includes two stages: the first stage learns a quantizer and image decoder on top of the frozen vision encoder, the second stage trains the LLM initialized from a pretrained VLM for the unified multimodal modeling. Using by far the least amount of data (15.6M) and the lowest cost (~$2,000), we demonstrate that unified multimodal models can be trained economically while achieving strong performance in both understanding and generation. Notably, ou
The unified entropy as a promotion of the von Neumann entropy exhibits distinct diversity which contains the Tsallis entropy, the Rényi entropy, the von Neumann entropy as special cases. The unified-($r,t$) entropy entanglement with $0<r<1$ and $0< t\leq 1$ was shown to be an entanglement monotone in literature. In this paper, we explore unified-($q,s$) entropy entanglement with $q>1$ and $qs\geq1$ and show that it is also an entanglement monotone and that both of them are monogamous. Going further, we present two kinds of global multipartite entanglement measures (GlMEMs) based on the unified entropy and each kind has two subclasses which are classified by the parameters $(q,s)$ and $(r,t)$. Consequently, from the view of the complete multipartite entanglement measure theory, we show that one of them is a complete multipartite entanglement monotone and is not only completely monogamous but also tightly completely monogamous, but the other three are even not complete. We also explore the genuine entanglement measures induced by the unified entropy and the relations with the bipartite entanglement and the global entanglement are discussed, respectively.
Semiconductors and their downstream applications sustain the electronic, information, energy and industrial systems underpinning modern society. Improving their sustainability is therefore an urgent global priority, particularly as global electricity generation is projected to increase more than 2.5 fold by 2050. Yet, since the invention of the transistor in 1947, a unified, global view of circuit elements as media for charge redistribution and transfer one that reveals switching inertia and the dynamical nature of switching while connecting microscopic and macroscopic domains across the semiconductor value chain through a common theoretical language has remained absent. Switching consequently lacks a unified mechanistic account of its physical origins and spatiotemporal evolution, with fundamental disconnects between charge- and energy-conservation frameworks, among carrier dynamic mechanisms and across equivalent-circuit formalisms. These limitations fragment research domains and impede sustainability gains, particularly those requiring cross-domain causal information. Here, we present Charge-Unified Semiconductor Switching Theory (CUSST), a general theory that unifies circuit el
A unified video and action model holds significant promise for robotics, where videos provide rich scene information for action prediction, and actions provide dynamics information for video prediction. However, effectively combining video generation and action prediction remains challenging, and current video generation-based methods struggle to match the performance of direct policy learning in action accuracy and inference speed. To bridge this gap, we introduce the Unified Video Action model (UVA), which jointly optimizes video and action predictions to achieve both high accuracy and efficient action inference. The key lies in learning a joint video-action latent representation and decoupling video-action decoding. The joint latent representation bridges the visual and action domains, effectively modeling the relationship between video and action sequences. Meanwhile, the decoupled decoding, powered by two lightweight diffusion heads, enables high-speed action inference by bypassing video generation during inference. Such a unified framework further enables versatile functionality through masked input training. By selectively masking actions or videos, a single model can tackle
Unified large multimodal models (LMMs) have achieved remarkable progress in general-purpose multimodal understanding and generation. However, they still operate under a ``one-size-fits-all'' paradigm and struggle to model user-specific concepts (e.g., generate a photo of \texttt{<maeve>}) in a consistent and controllable manner. Existing personalization methods typically rely on external retrieval, which is inefficient and poorly integrated into unified multimodal pipelines. Recent personalized unified models introduce learnable soft prompts to encode concept information, yet they either couple understanding and generation or depend on complex multi-stage training, leading to cross-task interference and ultimately to fuzzy or misaligned personalized knowledge. We present \textbf{OmniPersona}, an end-to-end personalization framework for unified LMMs that, for the first time, integrates personalized understanding, generation, and image editing within a single architecture. OmniPersona introduces structurally decoupled concept tokens, allocating dedicated subspaces for different tasks to minimize interference, and incorporates an explicit knowledge replay mechanism that propagat
The emergence of unified multimodal understanding and generation models is rapidly attracting attention because of their ability to enhance instruction-following capabilities while minimizing model redundancy. However, there is a lack of a unified evaluation framework for these models, which would enable an elegant, simplified, and overall evaluation. Current models conduct evaluations on multiple task-specific benchmarks, but there are significant limitations, such as the lack of overall results, errors from extra evaluation models, reliance on extensive labeled images, benchmarks that lack diversity, and metrics with limited capacity for instruction-following evaluation. To tackle these challenges, we introduce UniEval, the first evaluation framework designed for unified multimodal models without extra models, images, or annotations. This facilitates a simplified and unified evaluation process. The UniEval framework contains a holistic benchmark, UniBench (supports both unified and visual generation models), along with the corresponding UniScore metric. UniBench includes 81 fine-grained tags contributing to high diversity. Experimental results indicate that UniBench is more chall
We present a unified interpolation scheme that combines compactly-supported positive-definite kernels and multivariate polynomials. This unified framework generalizes interpolation with compactly-supported kernels and also classical polynomial least squares approximation. To facilitate the efficient use of this unified interpolation scheme, we present specialized numerical linear algebra procedures that leverage standard matrix factorizations. These procedures allow for efficient computation and storage of the unified interpolant. We also present a modification to the numerical linear algebra that allows us to generalize the application of the unified framework to target functions on manifolds with and without boundary. Our numerical experiments on both Euclidean domains and manifolds indicate that the unified interpolant is superior to polynomial least squares for the interpolation of target functions in settings with boundaries.
Unified multimodal models (UMMs) aim to jointly perform multimodal understanding and generation within a single framework. We present TUNA, a native UMM that builds a unified continuous visual representation by cascading a VAE encoder with a representation encoder. This unified representation space allows end-to-end processing of images and videos for both understanding and generation tasks. Compared to prior UMMs with decoupled representations, TUNA's unified visual space avoids representation format mismatches introduced by separate encoders, outperforming decoupled alternatives in both understanding and generation. Moreover, we observe that stronger pretrained representation encoders consistently yield better performance across all multimodal tasks, highlighting the importance of the representation encoder. Finally, in this unified setting, jointly training on both understanding and generation data allows the two tasks to benefit from each other rather than interfere. Our extensive experiments on multimodal understanding and generation benchmarks show that TUNA achieves state-of-the-art results in image and video understanding, image and video generation, and image editing, demo
Unified multimodal models provide a natural and promising architecture for understanding diverse and complex real-world knowledge while generating high-quality images. However, they still rely primarily on frozen parametric knowledge, which makes them struggle with real-world image generation involving long-tail and knowledge-intensive concepts. Inspired by the broad success of agents on real-world tasks, we explore agentic modeling to address this limitation. Specifically, we present Unify-Agent, a unified multimodal agent for world-grounded image synthesis, which reframes image generation as an agentic pipeline consisting of prompt understanding, multimodal evidence searching, grounded recaptioning, and final synthesis. To train our model, we construct a tailored multimodal data pipeline and curate 143K high-quality agent trajectories for world-grounded image synthesis, enabling effective supervision over the full agentic generation process. We further introduce FactIP, a benchmark covering 12 categories of culturally significant and long-tail factual concepts that explicitly requires external knowledge grounding. Extensive experiments show that our proposed Unify-Agent substanti
Boson sampling is a key candidate for demonstrating quantum advantage, and has already yielded significant advances in quantum simulation, machine learning, and graph theory. In this work, a unification and extension of distinct forms of boson sampling is developed. The devised protocol merges discrete-variable scattershot boson sampling with continuous-variable Gaussian boson sampling. Thereby, it is rendered possible to harness the complexity of more interesting states, such as squeezed photons, in advanced sampling protocols. A generating function formalism is developed for the joint description of multiphoton and multimode light undergoing Gaussian transformations. The resulting analytical tools enable one to explore interfaces of different photonic quantum-information-processing platforms. A numerical simulation of unified sampling is carried out, benchmarking its performance, complexity, and scalability. Entanglement is characterized to exemplify the generation of quantum correlations from the nonlinear interactions of a unified sampler.
The emergence of Large Language Models (LLMs) has unified language generation tasks and revolutionized human-machine interaction. However, in the realm of image generation, a unified model capable of handling various tasks within a single framework remains largely unexplored. In this work, we introduce OmniGen, a new diffusion model for unified image generation. OmniGen is characterized by the following features: 1) Unification: OmniGen not only demonstrates text-to-image generation capabilities but also inherently supports various downstream tasks, such as image editing, subject-driven generation, and visual-conditional generation. 2) Simplicity: The architecture of OmniGen is highly simplified, eliminating the need for additional plugins. Moreover, compared to existing diffusion models, it is more user-friendly and can complete complex tasks end-to-end through instructions without the need for extra intermediate steps, greatly simplifying the image generation workflow. 3) Knowledge Transfer: Benefit from learning in a unified format, OmniGen effectively transfers knowledge across different tasks, manages unseen tasks and domains, and exhibits novel capabilities. We also explore t
This paper presents an efficient and scalable framework for Range Filtered Approximate Nearest Neighbors Search (RF-ANNS) over high-dimensional vectors associated with attribute values. Given a query vector $q$ and a range $[l, h]$, RF-ANNS aims to find the approximate $k$ nearest neighbors of $q$ among data whose attribute values fall within $[l, h]$. Existing methods including pre-, post-, and hybrid filtering strategies that perform attribute range filtering before, after, or during the ANNS process, all suffer from significant performance degradation when query ranges shift. Though building dedicated indexes for each strategy and selecting the best one based on the query range can address this problem, it leads to index consistency and maintenance issues. Our framework, called UNIFY, constructs a unified Proximity Graph-based (PG-based) index that seamlessly supports all three strategies. In UNIFY, we introduce SIG, a novel Segmented Inclusive Graph, which segments the dataset by attribute values. It ensures the PG of objects from any segment combinations is a sub-graph of SIG, thereby enabling efficient hybrid filtering by reconstructing and searching a PG from relevant segmen
