Recent years have seen the development of LLM-based code generation. Compared to generating code in a software project, incremental code edits are empirically observed to be more frequent. The emerging code editing approaches usually formulate the problem as generating an edit based on known relevant prior edits and context. However, practical code edits can be more complicated. First, an editing session can include multiple (ir)relevant edits to the code under edit. Second, the inference of the subsequent edits is non-trivial as the scope of its ripple effect can be the whole project. In this work, we propose CoEdPilot, an LLM-driven solution to recommend code edits by discriminating the relevant edits, exploring their interactive natures, and estimating its ripple effect in the project. Online multimodal knowledge editing requires injecting a continual stream of visual-textual corrections into multimodal large language models (MLLMs) with bounded overhead and minimal disruption to unrelated behaviors. Existing editors mainly emphasize edit reliability and long-horizon stability, but rarely control the semantic boundary of each edit. Our pilot analyses of post-edit behaviors and internal neuronal activities reveal a scope gap behind reliable edits: instance-level success neither guarantees transfer to valid cross-modal variants nor prevents leakage to unrelated inputs, while edit-related cross-modal responses concentrate in deeper semantic layers. Therefore, we formulate Edit-Scoped Generalization, reframing online MLLM editing from merely correcting an instance to controlling the propagation boundary of each edit. To this end, we propose ScopeEdit, a scope-aware online editor that decomposes each update into a modality-local absorption branch and an evidence-gated shared generalization branch. This study presents a targeted model editing analysis focused on the latest large language model, Llama-3. We explore the efficacy of popular model editing techniques - ROME, MEMIT, and EMMET, which are designed for precise layer interventions. We identify the most effective layers for targeted edits through an evaluation that encompasses up to 4096 edits across three distinct strategies: sequential editing, batch editing, and a hybrid approach we call as sequential-batch editing. Our findings indicate that increasing edit batch-sizes may degrade model performance more significantly than using smaller edit batches sequentially for equal number of edits. With this, we argue that sequential model editing is an important component for scaling model editing methods and future research should focus on methods that combine both batched and sequential editing. This observation suggests a potential limitation in current model editing methods which push towards bigger edit batch sizes, and we hope it paves way for future investigations into optimizing batch sizes and model editing performance.
Instruction-based image editing (IIE) aims to modify images according to textual instructions while preserving irrelevant content. Despite recent advances in diffusion transformers, existing methods often suffer from over-editing, introducing unintended changes to regions unrelated to the desired edit. We identify that this limitation arises from the lack of an explicit mechanism for edit localization. In particular, different editing operations (e.g., addition, removal and replacement) induce distinct spatial patterns, yet current IIE models typically treat localization in a task-agnostic manner. To address this limitation, we propose a training-free, task-aware edit localization framework that exploits the intrinsic source and target image streams within IIE models. For each image stream, We first obtain attention-based edit cues, and then construct feature centroids based on these attentive cues to partition tokens into edit and non-edit regions. Large diffusion transformers (DiTs) follow global editing instructions well but consistently leak local edits into unrelated regions, because joint-attention architectures offer no explicit channel telling the network where to apply the edit. We introduce AdaptEdit, a co-trained, instruction- and region-aware adapter framework that retro-fits a frozen DiT into a precise local editor without modifying its backbone weights. A lightweight Block Adapter at every transformer block injects a structured condition stream that factorizes what to edit (instruction semantics) from where to edit (spatial mask); a learned SpatialGate routes the adapter signal selectively into the edit region while keeping the rest of the image near-identical to the source; and a Region-Aware Loss focuses the training objective on the changing pixels. Because these components make the backbone's internal representation mask-aware end-to-end, a thin MaskPredictor head trained jointly with the editor can ground the edit region directly from the instruction and source image -- eliminating any user-mask requirement at deployment. Scene text editing (STE) has achieved remarkable progress in accurately rendering target text through diffusion-based methods. However, we identify a critical yet overlooked problem: edit spillover -- when editing a target text region, existing methods inadvertently modify non-target regions, particularly neighboring text. Through systematic evaluation on 50 real-world scenes across four categories, we reveal that state-of-the-art diffusion editing models exhibit a spillover rate of 94%, meaning nearly all non-target text regions are altered during editing. To address this, we propose the Edit Fidelity Field (EFF), a semantics-aware continuous field that controls per-pixel editing fidelity. Unlike binary masks, EFF leverages OCR-detected text regions to construct a four-zone field: Edit Core (fully editable), Transition Zone (smooth decay), Protected Zone (non-target text, explicitly locked), and Background (strictly preserved). EFF operates as a training-free, model-agnostic post-processing module applicable to any diffusion-based STE method. Recent advances in image editing models have shown remarkable progress. A common architectural design couples a multimodal large language model (MLLM) encoder with a diffusion decoder, as seen in systems such as Step1X-Edit and Qwen-Image-Edit, where the MLLM encodes both the reference image and the instruction but remains frozen during training. In this work, we demonstrate that unlocking the reasoning capabilities of MLLM can further push the boundaries of editing models. Specifically, we explore two reasoning mechanisms, thinking and reflection, which enhance instruction understanding and editing accuracy. Based on that, our proposed framework enables image editing in a thinking-editing-reflection loop: the thinking mechanism leverages the world knowledge of MLLM to interpret abstract instructions, while the reflection reviews editing results, automatically corrects unintended manipulations, and identifies the stopping round. In this technical report, we introduce SEED-Data-Edit: a unique hybrid dataset for instruction-guided image editing, which aims to facilitate image manipulation using open-form language. SEED-Data-Edit is composed of three distinct types of data: (1) High-quality editing data produced by an automated pipeline, ensuring a substantial volume of diverse image editing pairs. (2) Real-world scenario data collected from the internet, which captures the intricacies of user intentions for promoting the practical application of image editing in the real world. (3) High-precision multi-turn editing data annotated by humans, which involves multiple rounds of edits for simulating iterative editing processes. The combination of these diverse data sources makes SEED-Data-Edit a comprehensive and versatile dataset for training language-guided image editing model. We fine-tune a pretrained Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) that unifies comprehension and generation with SEED-Data-Edit. Instructed code editing, where an LLM modifies existing code based on a natural language instruction, accounts for roughly 19% of real-world coding assistant interactions. Yet very few benchmarks directly evaluate this capability. From a survey of over 150 code-related benchmarks, we find that only two, CanItEdit and EDIT-Bench, target instructed code editing with human-authored instructions and test-based evaluation. We audit both by comparing their programming languages, edit intents, and application domains against distributions observed in the wild (Copilot Arena, AIDev, GitHub Octoverse), and by measuring test counts, statement coverage, and test scope across all 213 problems. Both benchmarks concentrate over 90\% of evaluation on Python while TypeScript, GitHub's most-used language, is absent. Backend and frontend development, which together constitute 46% of real-world editing activity, are largely missing, and documentation, testing, and maintenance edits (31.4% of human PRs) have zero representation. An edit summary is a succinct comment written by a Wikipedia editor explaining the nature of, and reasons for, an edit to a Wikipedia page. Edit summaries are crucial for maintaining the encyclopedia: they are the first thing seen by content moderators and they help them decide whether to accept or reject an edit. Additionally, edit summaries constitute a valuable data source for researchers. Unfortunately, as we show, for many edits, summaries are either missing or incomplete. To overcome this problem and help editors write useful edit summaries, we propose a model for recommending edit summaries generated by a language model trained to produce good edit summaries given the representation of an edit diff. To overcome the challenges of mixed-quality training data and efficiency requirements imposed by the scale of Wikipedia, we fine-tune a small generative language model on a curated mix of human and synthetic data. Our model performs on par with human editors. Commercial large language models are able to solve this task better than human editors, but are not well suited for Wikipedia, while open-source ones fail on this task. Currently, enhancing Unified Multimodal Models (UMMs) with image understanding, generation, and editing capabilities mainly relies on mixed multi-task training. Due to inherent task conflicts, such strategy requires complex multi-stage pipelines, massive data mixing, and balancing tricks, merely resulting in a performance trade-off rather than true mutual reinforcement. To break this paradigm, we propose Uni-Edit, an intelligent image editing task that serves as the first general task for UMM tuning. Unlike complex mixed pipelines, Uni-Edit improves performance across all three abilities at once using only one task, one training stage, and one dataset. Specifically, we first identify image editing as an inherently ideal general task, as it naturally demands both visual understanding and generation. However, existing editing data relies on simplistic instructions that severely underutilize a model's understanding capacity. To address this, we introduce the first automated and scalable data synthesis pipeline for intelligent editing, transforming diverse VQA data into complex and effective editing instructions with embedded questions and nested logic. We propose FlowAnchor, a training-free framework for stable and efficient inversion-free, flow-based video editing. Inversion-free editing methods have recently shown impressive efficiency and structure preservation in images by directly steering the sampling trajectory with an editing signal. However, extending this paradigm to videos remains challenging, often failing in multi-object scenes or with increased frame counts. We identify the root cause as the instability of the editing signal in high-dimensional video latent spaces, which arises from imprecise spatial localization and length-induced magnitude attenuation. To overcome this challenge, FlowAnchor explicitly anchors both where to edit and how strongly to edit. It introduces Spatial-aware Attention Refinement, which enforces consistent alignment between textual guidance and spatial regions, and Adaptive Magnitude Modulation, which adaptively preserves sufficient editing strength. Together, these mechanisms stabilize the editing signal and guide the flow-based evolution toward the desired target distribution. We introduce neuralCAD-Edit, the first benchmark for editing 3D CAD models collected from expert CAD engineers. Instead of text conditioning as in prior works, we collect realistic CAD editing requests by capturing videos of professional designers, interacting directly with CAD models in CAD software, while talking, pointing and drawing. We recruited ten consenting designers to contribute to this contained study. We benchmark leading foundation models against human CAD experts carrying out edits, and find a large performance gap in both automatic metrics and human evaluations. Even the best foundation model (GPT 5.2) scores 53% lower (absolute) than CAD experts in human acceptance trials, demonstrating the challenge of neuralCAD-Edit. We introduce MotionEdit, a novel dataset for motion-centric image editing-the task of modifying subject actions and interactions while preserving identity, structure, and physical plausibility. Unlike existing image editing datasets that focus on static appearance changes or contain only sparse, low-quality motion edits, MotionEdit provides high-fidelity image pairs depicting realistic motion transformations extracted and verified from continuous videos. This new task is not only scientifically challenging but also practically significant, powering downstream applications such as frame-controlled video synthesis and animation. To evaluate model performance on the novel task, we introduce MotionEdit-Bench, a benchmark that challenges models on motion-centric edits and measures model performance with generative, discriminative, and preference-based metrics. Benchmark results reveal that motion editing remains highly challenging for existing state-of-the-art diffusion-based editing models. Model editing enables targeted updates to the knowledge of large language models (LLMs) with minimal retraining. Among existing approaches, locate-then-edit methods constitute a prominent paradigm: they first identify critical layers, then compute residuals at the final critical layer based on the target edit, and finally apply least-squares-based multi-layer updates via $\textbf{residual distribution}$. While empirically effective, we identify a counterintuitive failure mode: residual distribution, a core mechanism in these methods, introduces weight shift errors that undermine editing precision. Through theoretical and empirical analysis, we show that such errors increase with the distribution distance, batch size, and edit sequence length, ultimately leading to inaccurate or suboptimal edits. To address this, we propose the $\textbf{B}$oundary $\textbf{L}$ayer $\textbf{U}$pdat$\textbf{E (BLUE)}$ strategy to enhance locate-then-edit methods. Instruction-based image editing holds immense potential for a variety of applications, as it enables users to perform any editing operation using a natural language instruction. However, current models in this domain often struggle with accurately executing user instructions. We present Emu Edit, a multi-task image editing model which sets state-of-the-art results in instruction-based image editing. To develop Emu Edit we train it to multi-task across an unprecedented range of tasks, such as region-based editing, free-form editing, and Computer Vision tasks, all of which are formulated as generative tasks. Additionally, to enhance Emu Edit's multi-task learning abilities, we provide it with learned task embeddings which guide the generation process towards the correct edit type. Both these elements are essential for Emu Edit's outstanding performance. Furthermore, we show that Emu Edit can generalize to new tasks, such as image inpainting, super-resolution, and compositions of editing tasks, with just a few labeled examples. Large language model agents have made strong progress on software engineering, yet current systems suffer from a context coupling problem: the standard code editing interface conflates code inspection, modification planning, and edit execution within a single context window, forcing agents to interleave exploratory viewing with strictly formatted edit generation. Irrelevant context accumulates and edit reliability degrades. We propose SWE-Edit, which decomposes the editing interface into two specialized subagents: a Viewer that extracts task-relevant code on demand, and an Editor that executes modifications from high-level natural language plans -- letting the main agent focus on reasoning while delegating context-intensive operations to clean context windows. On SWE-Bench Verified, this decomposition raises resolve rate by 2.1 pp and cuts inference cost by 17.9%, with consistent gains across multiple reasoning-model families (Kimi-K2, MiniMax-M2.1, GLM-4.7). We present the first text-based image editing approach for object parts based on pre-trained diffusion models. Diffusion-based image editing approaches capitalized on the deep understanding of diffusion models of image semantics to perform a variety of edits. However, existing diffusion models lack sufficient understanding of many object parts, hindering fine-grained edits requested by users. To address this, we propose to expand the knowledge of pre-trained diffusion models to allow them to understand various object parts, enabling them to perform fine-grained edits. We achieve this by learning special textual tokens that correspond to different object parts through an efficient token optimization process. These tokens are optimized to produce reliable localization masks at each inference step to localize the editing region. Leveraging these masks, we design feature-blending and adaptive thresholding strategies to execute the edits seamlessly. To evaluate our approach, we establish a benchmark and an evaluation protocol for part editing. Recent advancements of generative AI have significantly promoted content creation and editing, where prevailing studies further extend this exciting progress to video editing. In doing so, these studies mainly transfer the inherent motion patterns from the source videos to the edited ones, where results with inferior consistency to user prompts are often observed, due to the lack of particular alignments between the delivered motions and edited contents. To address this limitation, we present a shape-consistent video editing method, namely StableV2V, in this paper. Our method decomposes the entire editing pipeline into several sequential procedures, where it edits the first video frame, then establishes an alignment between the delivered motions and user prompts, and eventually propagates the edited contents to all other frames based on such alignment. Furthermore, we curate a testing benchmark, namely DAVIS-Edit, for a comprehensive evaluation of video editing, considering various types of prompts and difficulties. Instruction-based video editing has witnessed rapid progress, yet current methods often struggle with precise visual control, as natural language is inherently limited in describing complex visual nuances. Although reference-guided editing offers a robust solution, its potential is currently bottlenecked by the scarcity of high-quality paired training data. To bridge this gap, we introduce a scalable data generation pipeline that transforms existing video editing pairs into high-fidelity training quadruplets, leveraging image generative models to create synthesized reference scaffolds. Using this pipeline, we construct RefVIE, a large-scale dataset tailored for instruction-reference-following tasks, and establish RefVIE-Bench for comprehensive evaluation. Furthermore, we propose a unified editing architecture, Kiwi-Edit, that synergizes learnable queries and latent visual features for reference semantic guidance. Our model achieves significant gains in instruction following and reference fidelity via a progressive multi-stage training curriculum. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our data and architecture establish a new state-of-the-art in controllable video editing. All data
