Every nursing student shapes a part of their professional identity during their training. This article tackles the place of student commitment, particularly within associations or as elected representatives, as well as the skills developed in this context. The time that some students decide to devote to their peers plays a crucial role in developing their leadership skills, an increasingly important asset within our healthcare system.
This article presents a single-center, cross-sectional, descriptive epidemiological field study evaluating the screening for iron deficiency and pneumococcal prevention by community cardiologists in patients with heart failure. In total, 90% of the practitioners surveyed reported being familiar with the European Society of Cardiology's recommendations regarding iron deficiency screening, but only 60% perform it at least once a year. In contrast, 90% do not assess the patient's pneumococcal vaccination status. Nearly all respondents stated they are willing to collaborate with an advanced practice nurse.
Neurodegenerative diseases affect the cognitive functions, particularly communication, of those who suffer from them. Faced with this difficulty, caregivers often rely on the support of family members. Providing moral support and facilitating communication, family members are considered essential partners, playing a crucial role in the quality of exchanges and clinical and ethical decision-making. This study analyzes the communicational phenomenon of caregiver-care recipient dyads in order to identify the metacommunicational aspects that enable them to understand each other, as well as the obstacles and facilitators that preserve their interactions, with a view to developing a more appropriate caregiver-dyad support system.
Given the high prevalence of heart failure in Réunion, it is necessary to optimize patient care. This requires the development of a coordinated, multidisciplinary, and multiprofessional care pathway; the establishment of a tailored, well-defined, and visible care network across the region; and efforts to address diagnostic uncertainty. Screening and coordination tools have been developed to encourage healthcare professionals to actively engage with patients with heart failure and to improve their prognosis.
Heart failure is a chronic condition whose course can be affected by extended travel. This prospective, open-label study evaluated the impact of stays abroad lasting more than two months on a population of outpatients with heart failure receiving care in a cardiology clinic. Of the 14 patients included, 12 (86%) met the composite endpoint combining a disruption in cardiac follow-up (64%), a disruption in medication adherence (64%), or cardiac decompensation (57%) upon return from their trip. Dedicated preparation prior to departure could have improved the prognosis for these patients without discouraging them from traveling abroad.
The integration of clinical simulation and artificial intelligence (AI) into healthcare education and practice is a powerful driver of transformation in the field. Contrary to some common misconceptions, these technologies are not intended to replace healthcare professionals, but rather to enhance their skills in clinical reasoning, communication, and self-confidence. Our research, conducted with nursing and midwifery students, has shown that high-fidelity simulation, combined with AI tools, significantly improves both technical and non-technical skills.

The National Association of Firefighters Nurses has transformed the organization of its scientific events thanks to digital tools and remote collaborative work. This evolution is based on structured coordination, tailored facilitation, and the use of SMART objectives (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound). In this context, leadership is expressed through the early detection of weak signals, the benevolent management of volunteers, and organizational flexibility. Mastery of digital tools and virtual group dynamics strengthens the skills of nurse leaders. This model illustrates a capacity for innovation and serves as a reference for other professional structures.
Generative artificial intelligence, particularly through large language models (LLMs), is attracting growing interest in healthcare. While the literature and applications have mainly focused on supporting medical diagnosis, a major and more immediate opportunity generally associated with a lower level of clinical criticality, lies in reducing the time devoted to clinical documentation. In nursing practice, the drafting of reports, letters, handover notes, and summaries represents a substantial and time-consuming workload. This article presents the contributions and main limitations of LLMs for audio-to-text transcription, automated structuring of nursing consultation reports, and assisted drafting of clinical correspondence.
Ageing is associated with an increased risk of falls, which constitute the leading cause of accidental mortality among individuals aged 65 years and older. In response, two innovative regional interventions aim to enhance fall prevention in the home setting: Ma Maison A'Venir, a pedagogical demonstration apartment dedicated to assistive technologies, and Capaidants, a structured physical activity programme supported by a digital platform. These interventions are designed to strengthen the capacities of community-based healthcare professionals, positioning them as key contributors to proactive prevention strategies that promote autonomy and maintain quality of life.
Nursing school instructors, who for a long time lacked their own reference framework, developed their skills through imitation. A socio-historical analysis based on the Ratio Studiorum sheds light on their role: translators of knowledge, reflective practitioners, and educational guides. Between religious heritage, progressive structuring, and academic challenges, they embody a central function that is still seeking recognition and a unified framework.
Resilience refers to the ability to bounce back in the face of adversity. Studies on this subject show that in order to emerge, grow, and develop, this process is inseparable from relationships with others. As nurses are closest to patients when trauma occurs, they form part of their social and emotional environment. The aim of this article is therefore to identify the link between this profession and the resilience of those receiving care, based on the Casita model.

Hybrid closed-loop systems have revolutionized the management of type 1 diabetes by partially automating insulin delivery. Algorithms control the flow rate of an insulin pump and improve glycemic control as well as patients' quality of life. Explanations from Prof. Marc Breton, a researcher and designer of one of these systems, provide insight into how these algorithms work and their future developments.
The integration of teleconsultations by advanced practice nurses (APNs) within multi-purpose home care and assistance service located in Normandy significantly enhances care for dependent elderly people at home. This system, closely linked with general practitioners and hospital specialists, enables rapid access to medical expertise while strengthening care coordination and continuity. It highlights the strategic role of APNs and reassures patients, families, and care teams. Despite some organizational challenges, this innovation shows telemedicine's complementary potential for home care. Institutional recognition and stronger support are needed to sustain this practice.
Leadership in healthcare cannot be imposed; it is built through everyday actions, attitudes, experimentation, and empowerment. Given the shortcomings of training (in terms of practice, autonomy, and managing uncertainty), active teaching methods and personalized support are essential. Offering innovative formats and valuing student initiative means preparing caregivers who are capable of taking on leadership roles: resilient, committed, and ready to transform the healthcare system.
Healthcare professionals are speaking out and taking to social media, becoming health influencers. Their visibility is creating a new form of leadership, both among professionals in the sector and the general public. While particularly useful for prevention, these communication networks can be exposed to certain abuses, such as misinformation and opaque partnerships. A legal, professional, and institutional framework is being put in place to ensure the transparency and reliability of content. However, it is everyone's responsibility to learn how to use these tools to their fullest potential.
Adapted physical activity (APA), prescribed by a doctor, is intended for people with medical conditions or limitations. It can be practiced at home, supervised by trained professionals, and aims to promote well-being, independence, and quality of life. Despite obstacles (cost, unequal access), APA is a key therapeutic tool, enabling beneficiaries to rediscover physical pleasure and take back control of their health.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had well-established effects on mental health. However, few studies have examined its specific impact on people with hypertension. To address this gap, a study was conducted in the Beni Mellal province, Morocco, to assess the psychological repercussions of Covid-19 in hypertensive patients compared to normotensive controls. Symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress were measured using the DASS-21 scale.
