The rapid development in computing technology has paved the way for directive-based programming models towards a principal role in maintaining software portability of performance-critical applications. Efforts on such models involve a least engineering cost for enabling computational acceleration on multiple architectures while programmers are only required to add meta information upon sequential code. Optimizations for obtaining the best possible efficiency, however, are often challenging. The insertions of directives by the programmer can lead to side-effects that limit the available compiler optimization possible, which could result in performance degradation. This is exacerbated when targeting multi-GPU systems, as pragmas do not automatically adapt to such systems, and require expensive and time consuming code adjustment by programmers. This paper introduces JACC, an OpenACC runtime framework which enables the dynamic extension of OpenACC programs by serving as a transparent layer between the program and the compiler. We add a versatile code-translation method for multi-device utilization by which manually-optimized applications can be distributed automatically while keeping o
Heterogeneous programming has started becoming the norm in order to achieve better performance by running portions of code on the most appropriate hardware resource. Currently, significant engineering efforts are undertaken in order to enable existing programming languages to perform heterogeneous execution mainly on GPUs. In this paper we describe Jacc, an experimental framework which allows developers to program GPGPUs directly from Java. By using the Jacc framework, developers have the ability to add GPGPU support into their applications with minimal code refactoring. To simplify the development of GPGPU applications we allow developers to model heterogeneous code using two key abstractions: \textit{tasks}, which encapsulate all the information needed to execute code on a GPGPU; and \textit{task graphs}, which capture the inter-task control-flow of the application. Using this information the Jacc runtime is able to automatically handle data movement and synchronization between the host and the GPGPU; eliminating the need for explicitly managing disparate memory spaces. In order to generate highly parallel GPGPU code, Jacc provides developers with the ability to decorate key aspe
In this paper, a novel method for lumen boundary identification is proposed using Neutrosophic c_means. This method clusters pixels of the intravascular optical coherence tomography image into several clusters using indeterminacy and Neutrosophic theory, which aims to detect the boundaries. Intravascular optical coherence tomography images are cross-sectional and high-resolution images which are taken from the coronary arterial wall. Coronary Artery Disease cause a lot of death each year. The first step for diagnosing this kind of diseases is to detect lumen boundary. Employing this approach, we obtained 0.972, 0.019, 0.076 mm2, 0.32 mm, and 0.985 as mean value for Jaccard measure (JACC), the percentage of area difference (PAD), average distance (AD), Hausdorff distance (HD), and dice index (DI), respectively. Based on our results, this method enjoys high accuracy performance.
Objective: This study illustrates the ambiguity of ROC in evaluating two classifiers of 90-day LVAD mortality. This paper also introduces the precision recall curve (PRC) as a supplemental metric that is more representative of LVAD classifiers performance in predicting the minority class. Background: In the LVAD domain, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) is a commonly applied metric of performance of classifiers. However, ROC can provide a distorted view of classifiers ability to predict short-term mortality due to the overwhelmingly greater proportion of patients who survive, i.e. imbalanced data. Methods: This study compared the ROC and PRC for the outcome of two classifiers for 90-day LVAD mortality for 800 patients (test group) recorded in INTERMACS who received a continuous-flow LVAD between 2006 and 2016 (mean age of 59 years; 146 females vs. 654 males) in which mortality rate is only %8 at 90-day (imbalanced data). The two classifiers were HeartMate Risk Score (HMRS) and a Random Forest (RF). Results: The ROC indicates fairly good performance of RF and HRMS classifiers with Area Under Curves (AUC) of 0.77 vs. 0.63, respectively. This is in contrast with their PRC wi
